Rebecca has been learning and teaching in international schools her whole life. She grew up in Belgium and completed further studies in the UK. She holds a B.A. (hons.) degree in English and African Studies from Birmingham University, a PGCE in English and Drama Secondary Teaching from the University of Cambridge, and an M.A in Development Education and Global Learning from UCL. She has taught in schools in England, The Philippines, Tanzania, Belgium, Singapore, Ethiopia and is currently the Service Learning and Community Engagement Coordinator at the International School of Dakar.
Rebecca has carried out research into critical global citizenship and service learning practices in international schools and has published on the same topic for Routledge Press’ Global Citizenship Series. Rebecca is a long standing member of the AISA Service Learning Design Team and coordinates and runs professional learning workshops for colleagues across Africa as part of this work. She is currently welcoming her fourth cohort for an online workshop she has designed and co-facilitates, aimed at providing educators with tools to foster criticality in their practices and programmes. In her role as IBDP CAS Coordinator and Service Learning Coordinator, Rebecca has mentored student leaders, community partners and educators in diverse contexts. Rebecca has been an active member of the Global Issues Network in three regions, is a regular contributor to various educator networks, and has acted as a consultant for schools evaluating and developing their service learning programmes.
